The Platform of Demagoguery

Dear Readers:

In a recent press conference, President Obama excoriated Corporate CEO's, their corporate jets and the depreciation tax credit they get. This tax credit amounts to 3 billion dollars over ten years. His budget proposal has 140 billion dollars in new spending which we have not the money for. So why focus on corporate jets? It is just another class warfare tactic. It is just another entity to hold in contempt. He is running for re-election and his platform is envy, demonazation and demagoguery.

What else can he run on? Another four years of high unemployment? High energy prices? Depressed housing market? The promise of high taxes? Out of control spending and borrowing? This is what his administration has brought us. He can't run on that, so he must play class warfare. It has passed the test of time as there are always people willing to count other people's money. The only question is, how does making the affluent suffer improve your life?

Life is not fair, and the only way government can make it fair is to spread misery. It plays to our lowest common denominator, not our highest aspirations. It must demagogue. Here is the list of entities we must hold in contempt so far: Big ,pharmacy, big box stores, big oil, corporate CEO's, fossil fuels, gas guzzler autos, talk radio, conservatives, FOX News, fast food, let's not forget, big tobacco. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

What we must embrace is big government and the future it wishes to rob from us, our children and grand children. Socialist government good, capitalism bad. Government can only give us mediocrity. Capitalism promises a better future to those who work for it. It offers more than just survival.

In 1989 it was yachts. They passed a tax increase on them. It decimated the domestic yacht industry. 70% went out of business. That meant good-bye jobs and the other businesses that relied on the yacht industry. This tax was repealed in 1993 and for good reason. Now it is corporate jets. Do you really want history to repeat itself? This is my opinion, you may beg to differ.
