Dear Readers:
Forget 8.2 unemployment(numbers released week of 2/1/12). That is based on
the removal of another million plus jobs from the available jobs market. As I
wrote before, there are less jobs available than were in 2008. Until that
number changes upward, the unemployment numbers will not reflect the true depth
of this continuing recession. No President since Franklin Roosevelt has been
re-elected with an unemployment rate of plus 8%. So the object of the
administration and those in the media invested in electing Democrats is to make
you think unemployment is going down.
The truth is it is not. Nor is it predicted to go down for another three
years at least. Who predicts that? The Congressional Budget Office in their
report also released the week of 02/01/12. In fact as I recently wrote, true
unemployment is 10 plus %. It shoots up to 15 plus % if add in the number of
people who quit looking and those part time workers looking for full time work.
New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli released his report the same week as
the others that confirm those numbers as far as New York goes. However that has
more to do with New York's economic policies that Federal policies.
The CBO also gives their predictions for economic growth for this year and
next and it is not pretty. The CBO projects growth to be 2.2% this year and
they see 1% economic growth for 2013 after the election.
What are the reasons behind these projections according to the report?
Existing tax policy next year and anti-energy production this year.
We are a petroleum based economy. Affordable petroleum. The markets
fluctuate because of unease in the imported oil markets because of unrest in the
Middle East and Venezuela. We have a chance to ease those markets with the
proposed Keystone XL pipeline that would bring petroleum from a
friendly country, Canada. Obama has put a halt to that project, even though
his State Department and Environmental Department after four years of revue
have given it their stamp of approval. How bad a candidate for re-election must
you be, to put the nations petroleum needs below your re-election needs? That
is what this President has done by courting his most extreme environmental base
that is opposed to all forms of fossil fuel.
As far as tax policy goes, in 2013 the Bush tax cuts expire and all
brackets go up 5% and the lowest 10% bracket is eliminated and the marriage
penalty re-appears. Also the Obama Care taxes kick in. According to the CBO
report "The amount of money the federal government takes out of the U.S. economy
in taxes will increase by more than 30 percent between 2012 and 2014." Hence the
projected 1% increase in the economy in 2013.
When these tax policies were enacted in 2008-2209 it was designed by the
then Democrat controlled Congress and Senate to take effect after this years
election. The knew if the effect happened this year, a Democrat could not be
elected dog catcher except maybe New York and California.
When you take the CBO report along with the New York State Comptroller's
report, one would have to conclude the insanity of voting for a Democrat to
either New York State's Legislature or either Congress, Senate or President.
This is my opinion, you may beg to differ.
