The ongoing feud between Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio may make for some entertaining summer political theatre, but the plot is set against a backdrop of a withering state and city whose residents are ultimately paying the price for their harmful policies.

CEO Magazine just  ranked New York State next to last in its state rankings for businesses, quoting New York as "clueless" and "CEO's had nothing good to say about the state of New York." The Mercatus Center also  placed New York at the bottom of its rankings, declaring our state in "poor fiscal health."

Things aren't going much better in New York City, where every day there are new headlines of crime spikes, deteriorating quality of life and incompetence in the education system.

It's no wonder the Governor and Mayor's job approval ratings are under water at 37% and 44% respectively.

Andrew Cuomo is on the hunt for Bill de Blasio, says GOP chairman
The state's top Republican said Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio are playing a cat and mouse game - and the cat is hungry.

"Cuomo is like the cat playing with the mouse before he's going to eat the mouse," state Republican Chairman Ed Cox said on the John Catsimatidis radio show on AM 970 Sunday.

Cox said Cuomo has the upper hand in the ongoing feud between the two Democrats - but could be sticking it to the mayor so often because he fears a primary challenge.

"Cuomo knows how to play the corridors of power of New York State and New York City. And Mayor de Blasio is so ideological, and is really not focused on the needs of the people of New York City and is changing so many good reforms that were put in place by Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg [on] welfare, with respect to policing policies, and with respect to education," he said. "The governor is just having a field day."

Cox noted that Cuomo posted a notably weak margin last year over relatively unknown primary challenger Zephyr Teachout.

"If Mayor de Blasio wanted to take him on, because Mayor de Blasio does have the support of the far left of his party, I think the governor knows he might be in trouble," Cox said.
