Ed Ciffone on the Watchdog Report - YouTube

Dear member:

Please watch my video it has a lot of important information you should be aware of what's happening  in Yorktown. Dennis Tate is moving out of Yorktown in a few days, I will miss my friend. I will no longer be taping the Watchdog Report, Dennis has volunteered his last eight years as my director of my cable show.

If you want to send a good by message to him by an email Draginc@aol .com .

No. 24
As a local councilman, I advocated for the state's Property Tax Cap - a landmark measure which has proven to be one of the most successful tax relief initiatives in State history. Over the past four years the property tax cap has saved hardworking homeowners across the state more than $7.6 billion.

Unfortunately, this important law will expire if the State Legislature doesn't act soon to extend the tax cap or make it permanent.

If you agree that New York cannot afford to let the tax cap expire, click here to register your support and join my Keep the Cap Campaign. Heroin legislative package announced
As co-chairman of the New York State Senate Joint Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, I announced this week that the Senate will soon be acting on its first flight of bills to help decrease heroin deaths and put more drug dealers behind bars for peddling dangerous opioids. The Senate is expected to take up the bills next week, before the end of the legislative session.

The Senate's Task Force also hosted our fourth hearing of the year at the University of Albany. The heroin epidemic is not just limited to the Hudson Valley but is proving it's reach extends to all parts of our state. I believe the partnerships we continue to build will lead to important legislation that will help protect our communities from this terrible scourge.

The first round of hearings have provided valuable insight as to the obstacles we as a state must overcome to win the war on heroin and opioid addiction. This legislative package will advance important legislation from last year's Task Force as well as address new issues which have been identified as a result of the most recent hearings. Ultimately, we must continue our fight every day to curb the scourge of this epidemic by holding drug dealers accountable and by providing realistic options for prevention and those in recovery. A bill that would nearly halve the sales tax in Putnam County over a 10 day period in August sponsored by Senator Terrence Murphy passed the State Senate this week. The legislation, which was requested by the Putnam County government, would mean shoppers enjoy a reduced sales tax in the county from 8.38 percent to 4.38 percent for clothing and footwear under $110 from August 16th to August 25th.

Providing shoppers with a back-to-school time tax holiday will not only give parents a break, it will bring consumers to local businesses in Putnam County. It is important to shop local year-round, and tax holidays in other states are proven to give retailers a boost in sales. This legislation will benefit all shoppers as well as our many top notch local retailers in Putnam County. READ MORE
Purple Heart Memorial Dedication Ceremony
We would not be here were it not for the sacrifices of the men and women of our Armed Forces. This monument will stand as a testament to the fact and there was no more fitting day on which to dedicate it than this past Saturday, the true observance of Memorial Day.
Native Son: George Pataki
A former Senator from the 40th District, a great friend and Governor. His presence in the race will surely enhance the field in the Republican primary. New York is soon after Iowa and New Hampshire! Who do you support in the 2016 race?
Prudential Spirit of Community Award Winner Sara Friedman
I had the distinct honor of recognizing Sara Friedman of Sleepy Hollow on the floor of the Senate. Sara was a finalist in the Prudential Spirit of Community Award of which 30,000 students participated nationwide. Sara, who has already authored a book, represents the best of America's youth and is a stellar role model for her peers and community.
New York's 10th Mountain Division Day
10th Mountain commander Major General Bannister was in Albany representing Fort Drum. He spoke highly of the brave soldiers from our district at Camp Smith, NY, many of whom are 10th Mountain alum. Climb to Glory!
St. Patrick's School Capitol Tour
Now that I'm in my sixth month on the job and have learned the way around I am leading the tours myself! It was great to show the kids from St. Patrick's School our historic and most beautiful State Capitol. If you would like a tour (although sadly I may not ALWAYS be available as a tour guide) give my office a ring!
2015 Asian American Republican Club Heritage Dinner
It was an honor to be invited to give the keynote address at the AARC Dinner in Yonkers, an event I've been coming to for years. I also enjoyed seeing some of my dear friends from lohud's "hippest town," where we made good on our bet. We'll get them next year!
