Presents Alt-Timers

Wed. Aug. 6th at 8:15pm

121 Ludlow St., Second Floor, New York, New York 10002

Admission $15 general, $10 students and seniors

Alt.timers plays tunes in layers of time. Call it cubist jazz. In most music you relate to a beat. In ours you pick a beat to relate to. Pick another, and your perspective changes. Listen casually, and it sounds loose; closely, and it sounds tight. In regular harmony, a chord sounds different if the intervals are inverted. In temporal harmony or relative time, the same happens with rhythm. This is natural. Stars, planets, and moons keep separate but related times—the music of the spheres—as do clouds, waves, birds, arms, legs, eyes, ears, lungs, hearts, and minds. And we think we keep time by our watches! No; we keep alternate times.

Dutchess County Officials Join Team Murphy
Molinaro, Anderson & Liffland: "Its time for small businesses to
succeed in New York."

On Thursday, following a small business tour of Pawling, Dr. Terrence Murphy picked up three key endorsements for his run for New York State Senate: Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro, Dutchess County Sheriff Butch Anderson and Pawling Mayor Rob Liffland.

"Walking down Charles Colman Boulevard it is great to see so many small businesses moving Pawling's economy forward," said Dr. Murphy.  "These folks need a warrior in Albany who will fight tooth and nail against its tax and spend addiction.  Small businesses stand as the engine moving our economy, and as a small business owner myself, I know its about time Albany provided a helping hand."

The group of elected officials spent the morning visiting several local shops including stopping for coffee and pastries at McKinney & Doyle's, Annex Florist and Utter Brothers Feed Store.

"Dutchess County is home to some of New York's most unique small businesses," said Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro.  "With a partner like Terrence Murphy in Albany, having actual success in creating jobs and meeting a payroll, Dutchess County will have someone we can count on to keep Albany out of our pockets, opening the doors to more businesses in our communities."

According to the Tax Foundation's 2014 State Business Tax Climate Index, New York ranks last in comparison to every other state in the nation.  In addition, the Foundation also found New York's income tax rate, insurance tax rate and property tax rate also fall near to or last in the nation.

"As a father, business owner and public official, Terrence Murphy understands the struggles Dutchess County families' face and will represent us all with the integrity and passion we deserve," said Dutchess County Sheriff Butch Anderson.  "We need a protector in Albany who will be an independent voice against the status quo and Terrence will do just that."

"It is refreshing to partner with a public official who has already cut taxes and created jobs on the local level," said Pawling Mayor Rob Liffland.  "Terrence Murphy will take his experience and fight for every resident of Pawling to have the opportunity to succeed."

Kick off the new school year with a morning of fun, exercise, family, community and tradition! Now in its12th year, the Ossining MATTERS Education Foundation 5K Run/2 Mile Walk takes place September 6, 2014 at 9 a.m. By participating, you and hundreds of other Ossining MATTERS supporters can help make a difference in the education of all of Ossining’s students.

While the event is timed, the Ossining Matters Run/Walk is much more than a race. It is a time when Ossining residents display Ossining Pride and Ossining commitment to programs that enrich our children's educational experience.

This year’s route is traditional, with a twist. Runners begin at the Main Street Post Office, while Walkers start at the Double Arches. Everyone will follow the trail along the old Croton Aqueduct trail towards the Crawbuckie Beach Nature Center, accessing the park via a path created by the new Avalon residential complex. Walkers will venture into the complex before heading back to finish their hike.

Runners will proceed a bit further north before returning to the Double Arches Finish Line. Be prepared, as it is a multi-surface course (pavement, grass, dirt and wood chip trails) of varying elevation, with uneven terrain, stairs and hills. Super Race Systems will provide timing for our runners.
As in past years, there will be a kids' festival for our youngest runners and walkers following the run, plus an awards ceremony with medals presented in all age categories.

Register for the race at www.ossiningmatters.org until September 4. On Friday, September 5, Ossining MATTERS will offer in-person registration along with pre-race packet pickup from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Ossining Community Center.
