Bazzo Says: Who needs debates?

Bazzo Says:
BY ANTHONY J. BAZZO
OF YORKTOWN NEWS & MAHOPAC NEWS

Tricky Nick is gone

Bianco sells house

It is finally official! Councilman Nick Bianco has sold his house and is temporarily living with his sister in Yorktown before most likely heading to Florida to enjoy his retirement. The question is, when will Nick make it official that he is stepping down from the Town Board, a year before his term ends at the end of 2015? Well, it surely will not be before he does what he feels is needed to cement his legacy.

He still has to vote on an election law that will supposedly prevent vacated Town Board seats from remaining open for a year, as we have seen this year with the Paganelli seat. He still has to vote on the “sober home” and has to decide whether Costco will ever come to Yorktown. He will still vote whether the taxpayer has a say in raises for elected officials and department heads. He may even stick around to vote on the Town’s budget for next year, who knows.
I do know that he will not stick around until 2015, which is what the voters expected when they gave him four more years on the Town Board.

However, Nick Bianco’s legacy already exists:
• A decade to find a dog park
• Seven years to allow The Winery to do business
• A Town Comprehensive Plan that usurps the rights of property owners
• Code after code that makes property owners go through hoops to realize full value on their property.
• Codes usurping the takings clause of the Constitution where property owners lose use parts of their property without compensation
• Land taken off the property tax roll and made parkland that is still unused
• He spent more time being a conservationist then a conservative

Yet, Bianco’s most lasting legacy will be that if one wishes to get re-elected, one must answer his or her phone. Regardless of whether you agreed or disagreed with his positions over the years, when it came to constituent services, nobody was better. It was this work ethic that got him elected time and time again and for that, he deserves our thanks.

The bottom line is however, that he has chosen to not fill out his term and by doing so he broke his pact with those who voted for him.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, Nick.

Who needs debates?

I do not know what all the caterwauling regarding Gov. Cuomo’s refusal to debate Zephyr Teachout and/or Rob Astorino is all about. Back on Jan. 23 I wrote a column, “Hey Cuomo, you are not king,” in which I pointed out that he stated on an Albany radio show that those who hold views that differ from his “have no place in the state of New York.”

Being that a debate would obviously include individuals who, according to Cuomo, “have no place in the state of New York,” it is logical to conclude that any debate would be a disservice to democracy. After all, if you do not belong here, why should you be allowed to discuss anything with his highness. Of course he evolved to this position. When he ran for governor, he insisted that all candidates appearing on the ballot should be allowed to take part in political debates. These days he treats illegal immigrants and his corrupt political pals with more respect than honest New Yorkers who disagree with him.

Can you imagine the media storm that would have ensued had Astorino, a Republican, refused to debate a female candidate challenging him for the Republican nomination? The only storm stemming from Cuomo’s outright dismissal of Teachout is the storm of silence coming from the leading “women’s rights groups.”

What a joke, and the best part is that Cuomo (the king of the state’s old boys club) is running on the brand new Women’s Equality Party line. So, preventing a female candidate from debating a rich white man (I am talking like a lib!) results in the Women’s Equality Party line. Hypocrisy continues to be the hallmark of liberalism.
The feminists have no clothes!

So, why debate? We already know that Astorino is unacceptable as a Republican, and as such, he should just get out of town by sundown. The Cuomo campaign has already ascribed to Astorino, should he win, powers that not even his highness has.  According to the Cuomo campaign, Astorino would usurp the Supreme Court and ban not only abortion, but access to contraceptives. He would make it easy for criminals to get guns. Hell, he’ll be handing them out on every street corner. He would take all the money from the poor and give it to his friends. Then, in spite of New York law and EPA regulations, Astorino would allow unlimited hydraulic fracturing.
Ooohhh, scary…

Cuomo need not debate because we already know that he and only he can stop Astorino from poisoning our drinking water. We know that Republicans, as part of their plan to conquer New York, have a secret plan to kill off Democrats by poisoning them. You see, only Democrats drink tap water.

Why debate? I mean we know that the only way for Cuomo to get his agenda enacted is to keep every crook in the State Legislature in office. If he has nobody to pay off with favors, or receive contributions from for favors, how in God’s (is that word still allowed?) name will he get anything done? After all, the liberal agenda comes first, last, always.

Why debate? Even though we, the taxpayers, paid for the Moreland Commission, Cuomo owned it. I mean, he said on numerous occasions that the Commission was his.
Why debate? Cuomo already knows that the Democrat voter will overlook his hubris and enabling of corruption so they can, for example, have sex without all those pesky consequences. He knows that any Democrat worth his or her salt, will never pull the lever for someone with a “R” next to their name.

Drive down any road and you will see the signs that say, “Stop the Murphy pipeline.” These signs are yet more evidence that Democrats are counting on the stupid vote in November. You see, even though the pipeline issue is a federal one, it is Republican Murphy’s call and must be stopped. And, the only way to stop it is to vote for Cuomo, Wagner and the rest of this year’s Democrat candidates.

Why debate? We know that the economic policies of this governor have caused New York to go from the 48th best state to do business in, to the 50th! I can just hear the mind-numbed robots of the Democrat Party saying, hell yes, give us four more years of this! I mean, as much as New York has gone to hell in a hand basket, we know that Astorino will only make it worse.

We don’t need debates, we need Cuomo to give us four more years of hubris, corruption and economic failure. We need Cuomo to fight for infanticide. We need Cuomo because we know even without debates Astorino will never give us any of those things..
This is what I say. What say you?
