Bazzo Says: Trying To Nail Jello To The Wall

Bazzo Says:
BY ANTHONY J. BAZZO

OF YORKTOWN NEWS & MAHOPAC NEWS

One must believe in something! One must stand for something! Yet in the political arena, from politicians to talking heads, one only has to stand for whatever you will fall for. Believe it or not, there was a time when political parties actually had core beliefs. They were formed so like-minded people could pool their resources—both economically and vocally—to have their agenda enacted.

So when Mr. McKean writes last week:

"If you’re a Democrat, this is what you believe. Here are your opinions on immigration, gender or healthcare. This is your economic standing, geographic distribution, ethnic, racial and religious makeup. Likewise if you are a Republican. You are a walking, talking demographic with pre-programmed ideas."

As a form of derision, he is trying to justify believing in what one will fall for. The far majority of people registered to a political party (Democrat, Republican, Conservative, Working Families) believe in most if not the entire platform of that party. I do not include Independents, for I believe they believe in nothing.

What Mr. McKean was trying to do last week was what our president and governor are doing. He was arguing against that which he is actually doing. For example, last week he wrote:

"I believe in the primacy of the Constitution, the rule of law, the separation of powers. The freedom of the press, the right to trial by jury. I believe that the foundation of our state consists of the inviolable rights of the individual, balanced with the responsibility for the common good."

If he voted for Pres. Obama, Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand or Rep. Lowey, then he could not possibly believe in what he wrote, for they govern and vote the opposite of those beliefs. In fact, to believe in what he writes that he believes would make him the same extremist he frequently condemns. Those beliefs are conservative, and so the officials I mentioned always say these are extreme positions.

In the Senate, Schumer has twice supported amendments to the Constitution (both failed in committee) that would gut freedom of the press and religion. His amendments would have allowed the government to decide who and what is considered “press” and who and what could hold religious beliefs. It was Schumer, along with Sen. Levin, who sent requests to Lois “I take the fifth” Lerner of the IRS asking her to look into certain conservative groups that had applied for tax-exempt status. Schumer, Gillibrand and Lowey all voted for Obamacare, which is the greatest assault on individual liberty in modern American history. To support and vote for these people is to not to support the Constitution, at least not the Constitution of this nation.

When you look at the gutting of our borders by this president and our senators and congresswoman, we do not see the separations of powers as prescribed by the Constitution. Instead, we see the ongoing destruction of our national identity. In these cases, you are how you vote.

Even when it comes to local issues, McKean writes:

“In this complex, real world—a place like Yorktown—a life-long Democrat devotes six months of his time to elect a registered Conservative as Supervisor. Why Because party affiliation has little to do with the real business of running this town, or any small town, for that matter. The last I looked, neither the Town Board nor the supervisor have anything to do with making appointments to the Supreme Court, or Obamacare, gun control, or settling the crisis in the Middle East."

He is trying to hide from what he believes.

Even though Mr. Bianco is a registered Conservative, and probably holds Conservative views on state and national issues, he ran on the Democrat line because he sees eye to eye with them on most of the issues facing Yorktown right now, and those beliefs are anything but conservative. They are however, certainly anti-individual and private property rights. Unless those rights are granted by the Town.

They nominate former Supervisor Susan Siegel for the Town Board, saying, "We don't want a rubber stamp for Supervisor Grace," yet they know that Siegel would be a rubber stamp for their agenda. How do I know? Because twice Grace nominated people who could not possibly be considered rubber stamps— Rich Camanaro and Ilan Gilbert. In fact both ran numerous times for office as registered Democrats.  They were the definition of independent thought on Town issues, which is why both Bianco and Patel voted against their nomination and the Yorktown Democrat Party chair derided these choices. They want their rubber stamp, not Grace's.

So when McKean writes:
"If anything is an insult to the intelligence of anyone who takes the slightest interest in public affairs, it’s being told what you believe. And then being called names if your nuanced perception of reality doesn’t fit precisely the hard and unyielding mold of the tenets of the true believers."

As a derision of my recent description, it proves my point was apt.

One can tell what one believes by whom they support. Unless, like our president of governor, you speak publicly against that what your support privately. You show your beliefs by whom you vote for. It does insult one's intelligence when one feigns shock and/or indignation when it is pointed out.

This is what I say. What say you?
