Bazzo Says: Nixon’s legacy?

Bazzo Says:
BY ANTHONY J. BAZZO
OF YORKTOWN NEWS & MAHOPAC NEWS

Nixon’s legacy?

On Tuesday, Aug. 5, Daily News Political Commentator Richard Cohen re-wrote history. Where everyone else in the Democrat with by-lines media was celebrating their greatest achievement, the 40th anniversary of the resignation of President Richard Nixon, Cohen decided that Watergate was not Nixon's great crime. It was the so-called "Southern strategy," where according to Cohen, racist Democrats would find a new home in the Republican Party. Like everything else liberal, it was full of misdirection and projection.
First and foremost, it must be understood that the civil rights laws President Johnson signed into being would not have happened if he solely relied on Democrat votes. The truth is, this legislation passed with more Republican votes than Democrat votes, despite the Republicans being in the, ahem, minority. The home of racism was the Democrat Party, thanks in large part to those Southern Dems.

Turn now to the presidential election of 1968. Richard Nixon was the Republican nominee and Hubert Humphrey was the Democrat nominee. George Wallace, the Democrat governor of Alabama ran on a third party ticket. He did not switch parties to become a Republican. Oh no, he remained a registered Democrat and went on to carry the Southern states, thereby denying Humphrey the presidency.

Turn now to the 1972 election. During the Democrat presidential primaries, Wallace, a registered Democrat, ran as a…Democrat! He remained a registered Democrat until the day he died and was a force to be reckoned with, until a bullet caught in his spine ended his quest for the Democrat nomination.  Nixon won in a 49 state landslide, not because the racists voted Republican, but because he put an end to the Vietnam conflict in October of 1972.

The leading Democrats of the time, those who voted against the civil rights bill, stayed registered Democrats. .....William Fullbright of Arkansas—Bill Clinton's admitted mentor—remained a Democrat.

.....Senator Al Gore Sr., the father of Vice President Al Gore Jr., voted against the Civil Rights Act and remained a Democrat.

.....Sen. Robert Byrd of West Virginia, who was a Kleagle and Exalted Cyclops of his local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan, was voted majority leader of the Democrat-controlled United States Senate in the ‘80s.
The anti-civil rights senators remained Democrats and were continually voted into office, certainly not by Democrats turned Republicans. This "Southern strategy" template was started by Democrats to re-write history and scare minority voters from voting Republican. To this day it has worked. To this day minority voters think the civil rights bill was embraced by the Democrat Party and fought against by Republicans.
The exact opposite happened.

In the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan won two landslide elections on the platform that the federal government had grown too big. He said that states’ rights had been usurped. This is when the Democrat media began telling us that "states’ rights" was code word for "we hate blacks.” You see, states’ rights was the argument the South used to break from the Union. What Reagan was saying, and the press and Democrats damn well knew it, was that the federal leviathan—elected and otherwise—had grown so big that it was eroding liberty and monies of the states. It had to be reined in. However, the template of racist Republican had to be preserved. Again, this media re-write has succeeded.

Whatever sins Richard Nixon committed as president, welcoming racists to the Republican Party was not one of them. Nixon was the affirmative action president, and he was publicly endorsed by Jackie Robinson.
Nixon’s sins pale in comparison to those of our current president and his party. Where Nixon only thought of doing certain things—as articulated in his philosophy of "If the president does it, it's legal,"— this president is actually doing. All thanks to a compliant media and pathetic bunch of individuals known as the leaders of the Democrat Party.

It is the modern day Democratic Party that separates people into certain groups, pimps them into never- ending victimhood and a life of perpetual mediocrity, all the while growing more powerful and rich at the expense of their minions and useful idiots.

This IS history. Look it up for yourself and then you decide.
This is what I say. What say you?
