Bazzo Says: For New York Lefties, A Corrupt Democrats Is Just Fine

Bazzo Says:
BY ANTHONY J. BAZZO
OF YORKTOWN NEWS & MAHOPAC NEWS

I was told by a Democrat friend of mine that the perfect description of my column is blah, blah, blah, Democrats suck. This is not true. This would be a more apt description: the economy sucks, blah, blah, blah, Democrats are wrong and here is how.

Several new polls are out, reflecting the public’s attitude about Gov. Cuomo and Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino since Morelandgate hit the news cycle. In one poll, Cuomo dropped but Astorino did not get an up-tick. Sixty percent said the Morelandgate would not affect their vote. Talk about a kick in the groin…These results were so demoralizing that I came thisclose to throwing in the towel.

But then came the Siena Poll, and a sliver of hope. That poll shows Cuomo with a 23 point lead. Andy, you say, why does that make you happier? It doesn't, but a closer look at the poll did, a little bit. Among those who are aware of the Moreland Commission, Cuomo's lead is just 49-41. In a deep blue (in more ways than one) state, that is a heck of a showing for a Republican with almost no money.

Though corruption may infest both parties, going by the sheer number of investigations, indictments and convictions alone, it is apparent that the headquarters of corruption rests in the Democrat Party, though there is surely a satellite office in the Republican Party.

By disbanding the Moreland Commission when it was getting close to the governor’s friends, contributors and Democrat legislators, Cuomo was telling his cronies, “I cannot help you with the feds, but in New York, I got your back.” You see, it is not just the “gimme-brigade” that has no problem with a governor who may or may not be corrupt himself. These poll results were not just a result of the brigades of low information voters out there. These results reflected the sentiments of high powered Democrats of good character. After talking with a number of high profile Democrats, it seems as long a Cuomo is doing “good” job, the rest is immaterial.

Astorino is a Catholic who actually holds to his Catholic teachings. Surely, a corrupt liberal is better than a practicing Catholic…What has happened to us?

Mind you, using their logic, corrupt Republicans—real or perceived—should be replaced no matter how “good” a job they do, Corrupt, and those that enable them to do so, Democrats, are to be judged by a different standard. I am told that it is alright for me to put a premium on honesty, which is very nice of my Democrat friends. You see, that premium may enable me to champion their desire for elected office because in their case and only their case, character matters. However, I am told that they cannot take a chance on a Republican candidate because a Republican is, well, a Republican.
Even after I explain to my liberal friends that the chances of a Republican governor overturning gay marriage, the Safe Act, medical marijuana or even women’s “rights,” are zero, they still say they cannot conceive (pun intended?) of electing Astorino. You must understand, intransigent Republicans are bad but intransigent Democrats are good.

The reality is, as I have been writing for years, Democrats put party first, last and always, public (and liberty) be damned! In the minds of the Democrat Party, the ends justify the means. Why do you think so many of them read Rules for Radicals during their formative years?

So, that is why I came this close to throwing in the towel. I cannot fight these intransigents. Then, something happened. I had a couple of my Atom Taxi customers tell me they had all but given up and were not going to vote. But, seeing that I had not, as they were regular readers of my work, they were going to vote this year and were not going to vote for the enablers of corruption. Another customer told me it was my task, whether I liked it or not, to continue to make the argument that character matters and that the fight against corruption must be made, as is my lot in life. So even if it is one voter at a time, I will make the argument.

This is what I say. What say you?
