Dr.
Terrence Murphy Says Latest Headlines Further Proof That Status Quo In Albany Is
Losing Proposition

 Says
Time Is Now To Root Out All Corruption and Cronyism In Albany Which Has Made New
York A Laughing Stock

Yorktown
Councilman and State Senate Candidate Dr. Terrence Murphy says the latest news
coming from Albany reinforces the fact that Albany must be reformed from the top
down.

Said Murphy, "Recent headlines and revelations about the embarrassment which was the Moreland Commission underscore just how corrupt and dysfunctional Albany is."

Murphy continued, "Dysfunction is the perfect environment for radicals and
business-as-usual establishment types who seek nothing more than power, perks
and personal gain.

"Albany's addiction to power has grown out of hand. Our capitol doesn't just need to clean
up, it needs rehab. If we are serious about making New York economically
competitive again in order to create good paying jobs and finally deliver
meaningful tax relief Albany must be overhauled and bleached."

Murphy concluded, "As Yorktown councilman I worked to pass new stricter ethics laws
which demand full transparency and disclosure by town office holders. I will
take that record to Albany. I pledge to drain the swamp of status-quo corruption
which has now made our great state a national laughing stock. Albany must do the
work of the people, not cheat them."

R.O.I. By Frank J. Rich
Real-Time Marketing

Opportunity usually strikes a happy pose. But the path to promise is most often the ardor in work. Curiously, "nothing happens until something moves," as Einstein liked to say. Add to these aphorisms, "success is usually just a reach away."

These days, mid and small companies have joined the ride to riches on the cyberspace shuttle in increasing numbers. The potential in gaining access to millions of "customers" by the click of a mouse is too appealing to pass up. After all, what if it works? If this view alone were the stuff of fulfillment more people would believe in God. Frankly, research reminds us that the Internet has a paltry 2 percent ROI, converting only 5.9 percent of retail sales.

Innovative, creative, and purposed marketing is what it takes to win in the marketplace, especially now, when consumption is slow to rise, underemployment disguises real employment, and the cost of doing business places increasing pressure on growth initiatives. Interestingly, the philter in this model of achievement is an age-old methodology.

"Believe it or not, the most important lesson in effective online marketing comes from a decades-old example of good business - the neighborhood shopkeeper. From the moment a customer entered his store, the shopkeeper engaged her in friendly conversation. He had two goals in mind. First, he wanted to understand her immediate need so that he could provide the best service right now. Second, he wanted to get to know her better and begin building a lasting business relationship.

The consumer experience has certainly changed, but the principles of effective marketing have not. Just like the shopkeeper who engaged his customer the moment she entered the store, your ecommerce site must engage a visitor in real time, the moment she arrives. As digital marketers, we have advantages that the neighborhood shopkeeper could only dream about, and yet few of us are putting them into practice. More than ever, real-time marketing matters. ..."

This brief introduction, on the homepage of an exciting new technology company, means to qualify new digital tools for their ability to help perform a timeworn method in successful marketing-build a relationship with the customer and provide a good customer experience. This is what it takes to succeed. Punto y final!

What this company is saying, and what Main Street shops have been doing for time immemorial, is to begin the relationship and the building of a retention revenue model from the very first moment you meet the customer-on any medium.

How to Begin
Seek differentiation-It's what draws customers to you more than anything else. In a sea of information from all directions, yours must be engaging and compelling enough for the customer to spend uncommon moments listening to your message. Seek the help of media consultants to craft the messages and the market approach that target buyers. Only 13% of industry companies are committed to having the best customer service experience, according to research.

Believe in your ability to reach goal-Success is about the finish-in basketball, pitching, and in business. When we stop believing "we can," we start believing "we can't." Get busy making real-time marketing a real-time effort, and watch your fortunes grow.

Trust the results-If we fail to anticipate the best, it eludes us. Surprise is not an effective ROI strategy. Observational customer research is necessary. Absent evidence of how customer experience improvements affect revenues, cut costs, or improve customer loyalty, we risk losing energy for the process. Know that what you're doing works. Forty percent of all companies have no customer experience efforts in place. That spells opportunity for everyone else.

Look both ways-The competition is instructive. It may tell you where not to go and save you lots of money and time wasted trying something that is plainly not working. Similarly, how the other guy is doing it badly may be the best advice you get on how to succeed.

Know the customer, not so much his demographics-Fifty-three percent of companies depend on information that ultimately avoids contact with the customer. This is a model for failure.

The reality is that most companies are not innovating their customer service experience. The result is certain failure or marginal market performance. The shop owner of old was spot on to engage any who walked through his door and to keep them coming with whatever it takes. Market parity-the game most companies play-is a zero sum imposter.

KATZ: WE DESERVE AN OPEN INVESTIGATION INTO MORELAND
A statement issued by Assemblyman Steve Katz (R,C,I - Yorktown)

After reading the New York Times report earlier this week it is apparent that Gov. Cuomo's motto for the Moreland Commission was "Subpoenas for thee; not me."  The governor's initiative to clean up Albany corruption is mired in scandal itself − a feat not easily attained.  The laws and scope of this investigation are not just for the little people.  We deserve an open and transparent investigation into the Moreland Commission and any involvement the governor's office had in their activities.

ICYMI: Capital New York - U.S. Attorney's Investigation Beyond Cuomo's Control
In case you missed it, here's a great article on Capital New York coming right on the heels of the New York Times' Moreland Commission expose.

This is a must read! Check it out and then share it with your friends.

Here's the article:

A Situation Cuomo Can't Control Anymore
by Blake Zeff
July 25, 2014

The New York Times A-1 blockbuster that Andrew Cuomo's team was dreading finally landed on Wednesday, and it wasn't pretty. It painted a picture of the governor's dealings-including allegations his administration quashed an anti-corruption panel's subpoenas to his allies-that even his supporters privately admit doesn't look so hot.

And with a primary and general re-election campaign and an investigation by the U.S. attorney all looming, this saga has only just begun.

The question now is: How will all this play out for the governor, in terms of both the politics and the law?

On the former, the first place to look is the governor's response. You can always get a sense of how fearful of a breaking story a politician is by his public schedule immediately afterward.

In this case, Cuomo was slated to appear at the Bronx County Democratic dinner on Wednesday night. But, an insider tells Capital, he quietly backed out in an effort to avoid public attention. Similarly, the source says the governor-who is sitting on a massive campaign warchest and an insurmoutable-looking lead in the polls-had planned events for Thursday, but they, too, were removed before a public schedule went out. (Could we hear from Cuomo today? It would be less surprising, as he knows that comments made on a Friday end up in less-well-read Saturday editions of the paper.)

Another intriguing element of Cuomo's reaction is the 13-page statement his team provided the Times in response to its questions. One particularly memorable passage began like this (with emphasis added): "The Governor claimed the Commission ultimately had independent investigative authority through the Co-chairs. The Governor did not and could not mean that the Commission as an entity was legally independent from him."

It's not every day that your own defense characterizes your public statements as mere "claims" which it then sets out to debunk immediately afterwards.

But such is the spot Cuomo is in.
