NOTE: After collecting $1.22 from the good people of New York to help pay Andrew Cuomo's property taxes -- the governor has been cheating on paying his fair share of property taxes since at least 2010 -- our intrepid man heads to New Castle Town Hall. See what happens....

Oh, the governor still won't let his town assessor into his home to see what unpermitted work was done.

ASTORINO: BNP PARIBAS MONEY SHOULD GO TO
LONG-TERM CAPITAL EXPENSES, NOT GENERAL FUND

Can Fix Bad Mario Cuomo Decision that Diverted
Thruway Toll Revenue to Canal Corporation

New York--July 2...Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, the Republican candidate for governor of New York State, today challenged Governor Andrew Cuomo to dedicate the $2.2 billion windfall from the BNP Paribas bank settlement to long-term capital projects to shore up New York's decaying rail and highway infrastructure. The money would otherwise go into New York's general fund where it would be used for day-to-day operating expenses.

Mr. Astorino also proposed a long-term fix to the 1992 Mario Cuomo decision to divert Thruway Authority toll revenue to the Canal Corporation, thus stripping New York's roads and bridges of their historic stream of infrastructure funding. The County Executive said that $500 million in BNP Paribas settlement funds could be used to cover Canal Corporation costs over the next seven years, an entity whose costs could then be returned to the state's general fund. Thruway Authority money could then be re-dedicated to highway infrastructure, as it was originally intended to be.

"The BNP Paribas settlement presents New York with a real opportunity to shore up its aging Thruway and MTA  infrastructure and to fix a bad policy decision that has robbed New York's roads of badly needed repairs," County Executive Astorino said. "Fixing bridges and roadways may not be a sexy endeavor -- it may not come with ribbon cuttings -- but it is of critical necessity to the economic future of this state and to the safety of New York motorists.  This is an enormous amount of money, and we have an opportunity to spend it wisely, rather than to put it into the hands of a government that is already spending New York to death."

Eligibility Verification For ObamaCare? Sean Patrick Maloney Says “Who Cares?”
New Government Report Shows Government Didn’t Even Bother Verifying Income As Required By Law

WASHINGTON – Yesterday, the HHS Inspector General issued a report stating the government “didn't follow its own procedures for verifying eligibility” for ObamaCare subsidies. At every turn, the Obama Administration has flouted the law to prop up its disastrous legislation. Whether it’s the numerous mandate delays or yesterday’s latest report, it seems ObamaCare was written in pencil.

What’s most galling is last year Sean Patrick Maloney voted against requiring the Obama Administration to verify income eligibility—the very thing the government admitted it didn’t do. Maloney's reckless vote contributed to the very situation the American people find themselves in today. Maloney should apologize for his shameful vote and call on Health and Human Services to begin verifying incomes for ObamaCare eligibility today.

“Last year, Sean Patrick Maloney and his Washington cronies voted against this common sense bill requiring the government to ensure you’re even eligible for ObamaCare subsides,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “Sure enough, this new report shows that Maloney's friends in the Obama Administration haven’t even been following the law they passed.”

Yesterday, The Obama Administration Admitted It Has Not Verified Incomes For ObamaCare Subsidies. (Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar, Report: Health Law Sign-Ups Dogged By Data Flaws, Associated Press, 7/1/14)

Last Year, Sean Patrick Maloney Voted Against A Bill Requiring Income Verification For ObamaCare Subsidies. (H.R. 2775, Roll Call Vote 458, 235-191, 9/12/13)

27-year-old billionaire Congressional candidate fires campaign manager
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NY-19 ... Pity the young billionaire. It's been a tough few months for Sean Eldridge. First, the 27-year-old carpet-bagging candidate was busted by Politico for dodging reporters in his district.

Just a couple of weeks later (and perhaps unsurprisingly), he was caught looking for a new Communications Director via an open ad on Google Groups.

Last month, a financial disclosure revealed that Eldridge and his husband hold over $1 million in companies that engage in hydraulic fracturing for natural gas, despite Eldridge's repeated condemnations of the practice.

So last Friday, according to the liberal blog "Down with Tyranny," Eldridge fired his campaign manger.

"Sean Eldridge might be used to treating the world as his personal playground, but New York's 19th District is not his sandbox," said NYGOP Chair Ed Cox.

"A candidacy fueled solely by deep pockets and a vain desire to be called 'Congressman' was destined to founder, and it is."

NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior said:

"Like the self-entitled and self-unaware amateur that he is, Sean Eldridge apparently chose to take out his own shortcomings as a candidate on his staff. If Eldridge can't competently manage a Congressional campaign funded by $1 million of his own money, it seems a lot to expect that he could competently serve as a Congressman for Hudson Valley families."

Now Hiring: A Campaign Manager for Sean Eldridge
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: David Laska
dlaska@nygop.org
518.462.2601
NY 19... Yesterday was a tough day for Sean Eldridge: he was forced to admit to firing his campaign manager just a few months before Election Day.

That means there's a job opening in CD 19.  And although Sean balked at our suggestion for a new Communications Director, we thought we'd make a few recommendations for a new Campaign Manager all the same.

So here they are, Sean, our top five recommendations for a new Campaign Manager:

1. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger

Who better to call when your campaign is sputtering toward oblivion with no sign of hope? The architect of the original "Miracle on the Hudson" just might have some magic left in him. And although US Airways Flight 1549 never reached its destination (you'll never reach Congress), all aboard were able to walk away with their dignity intact.

2. Mitt Romney
America's "Mr. Fix-it" has been out of the political spotlight lately, and that's a shame (after all, Americans now say we'd be better off with Mitt). And while it would take a herculean effort to turn your race around, if he fixed the Olympics, he can probably salvage your campaign.

3. Nigel Travis
The CEO of Dunkin Donuts is a good choice for two reasons: First of all, he knows how to speak and appeal to average Americans. That's not easy for a 27-year-old billionaire. Second, we know that your staff is in the market for some sugary treats after one of your employees told your own DCCC Chair what to do with the bagels he keeps sending.

4. Roose Bolton
With zero familiarity with any part of New York above 96th Street, you need someone with experience running campaigns in the North. And Lord Bolton won't be scared off by the disastrous state of your race: the only thing in recent memory more painful to watch than the Eldridge campaign was the Red Wedding.

5. Bernie Madoff

Because let's face it: your whole campaign is a giant sham.

Justin
Wagner Fear Mongering An Attempt To Distract From Extreme Liberal
Past
Dr.
Terrence Murphy, Republican Candidate For 40th Senate District Says His Radical
Democrat Opponent Won't Get Away With Lies To Drive A False Agenda

In an
attempt to draw attention away from recent revelations about his radical
positions and alliances, Justin Wagner lived up to his extremist reputation by
spewing a stream of lies about proposed repairs to an existing natural gas
pipeline.

At
issue here is the 1,000 mile long Algonquin Pipeline, whose upgrades were
planned by a Con Edison partnership, was built in 1953 and supplies gas to New
England.

For the
purposes of this subject, it should be noted that Justin Wagner is an associate
at the law firm of
Weil,
Gotshal & Manges, a law firm whose clients include big oil companies such as
Exxon-Mobile as well as fracking interests such as Chesapeake Energy. While
posing as an "environmentalist" Wagner has been working behind the scenes to
support the big energy industry.

In a
statement, the conflicted Wagner implied that Yorktown Councilman Dr. Terrence
Murphy supports the expansion of a pipeline running through Northern
Westchester.

Dr. Murphy
took issue with Wagner's untruths:

"As much
as he and his radical comrades feel entitled to drive a false narrative, Justin
Wagner will not get away with it."

"The
recent proceedings at Yorktown's town hall only had to do with a home rule
legislation that would give the town the ability to alienate parkland to be used
for a
staging
area
should
the town board decide it was in the best interest of the town. It was about
where contractors could STORE THEIR EQUIPMENT."

Dr. Murphy
continued to set the record straight by stating, "I wish we DID have some say on
the direction of this issue, but unfortunately everything to do with the size,
scope and use of this pipeline is under the purview of President Obama's
bureaucrats in Washington. In other words, no matter how the people of the
Hudson Valley feel about this -INCLUDING Justin Wagner- it's all in the hands of
the federal government."

The
operation of the Algonquin Pipeline is
controlled
entirely by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
. Local municipalities
have no say in any aspect to construction, expansion or repairs of the pipes.
Any statements to the contrary are lies.

"He can
lie and incite fear all he wants, it won't make his radical positions and
alliances go away. His extremism is completely out of touch with the mainstream
voters of the 40th District."

Town Board

Meeting highlights. For a summary of all agenda items, visit ciyinfo.org.

1. Spectra/Granite Knolls parkland alienation
Paul Moskowitz explained the science behind the radioactive active material that’s in the end product of the “pig” cleaning process and Supervisor Grace said that citizens should make their environmental concerns known to FERC. Jonathan Hyman suggested to the board that the town should submit comments to FERC and not leave it up to residents.
.
2. Sparkle Lake Dam
Howard Frank questioned why the town was spending money to study the safety of the dam. In response, the town engineer explained that the dam has been classified as a “high hazard’ dam by DEC and that the town has to meet the agency’s new stricter dam safety regulations.

3. Public hearing on proposed law about keeping fowl on residential properties
The board voted 4-0 to adopt the law that requires homeowners who want to keep fowl (hens and ducks, but no roosters) to have at least 40,000 square feet and obtain a special permit from the Zoning Board. In response to comments from the public, the board amended the draft law to allow the ZBA to issue variances for homeowners with lots of less than 40,0000 square feet.

SENATOR GREG BALL SECURES $60,000 TO COMBAT HEROIN ADDICTION IN SCHOOLS

Brewster, N.Y. – (7/03/14) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I –Patterson), Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, has secured $60,000 of state funding to combat opioid and heroin addition in local schools. The New York State Legislature recently approved the funding for Peers Influence Peers Partnership, a non-profit aimed at providing opportunities for youth to use their influence with their peers to make healthy life style choices.

“The epidemic of heroin addiction plaguing our communities must be confronted head on. It is sickening to read and hear of the countless deaths in our community. It is crucial to get to the kids before it is too late,” said Senator Greg Ball. “I’m excited to have secured this funding for Peers Influence Peers Partnership, so they can get active in our schools and teach our students about the dangers of these substances to help combat this epidemic.”

Senator Ball secured a total of six $10,000 grants that the program will use to visit several Putnam County High Schools including Putnam Valley, Mahopac, Brewster, Lakeland, Walter Panas and Carmel.

“Heroin and other opiate addiction is a problem that is visiting communities all across the country. Peers Influence Peers has worked this past year on the production of a documentary film, 'Chasing It' which looks at this explosive issue,” said Frank Reale, President of Peers Influence Peers Partnership. “I am very grateful of Senator Ball for securing these grants for us to use to reach out to local high school students and their parents in an effort to raise awareness of such issues.”

Peers Influence Peers plans on visiting the six schools to show the documentary “Chasing It”, which explores the dangerous heroin and opioid epidemic. The funds will also go toward reaching out to students to get involved in other issues that raise concern, such as drug and alcohol abuse and domestic violence.

“I want to share my gratitude to Senator Ball for this opportunity to partner with Frank Reale, a Putnam Valley community member who has dedicated himself to inspiring and motivating young people who struggle to find their way in a challenging environment,” said Superintendent Frances Wills of Putnam Valley Central School District. “This grant will allow the District to work with parents and the community in order to portray the devastating effects of teen heroin abuse. Peers Influence Peers' disturbing and powerful documentary will be used as a key component of our broader goal to prevent student drug use and intervene when it becomes an obstacle to student learning and social interaction.”

“We want to thank the Senator for providing us with the opportunity to present film and forum and be able to work with Peers Influence Peers. This grant will provide us with the opportunity to continue educating our students about the critical issues of prescription abuse and heroin addiction,” said Superintendent Dr. George Stone of Lakeland Central School District.

Senator Greg Ball has also teamed up with two local families who recently lost their sons to drug addiction. The Christiansen and Salomone families have organized a group titled, “Drug Crisis In Our Backyard.” Their mission is to promote awareness and provide resources and support to those individuals and their families affected by drug addiction.

“We are very excited and encouraged to learn of this great step that Senator Ball has made for the cause of fighting the Heroin and Opiate epidemic we are facing,” said Steven Salomone of Drug Crisis in Our Backyard. “The Peers influence Peers group in particular provides a very strong tool in the battle of addiction because they are about education in order to prevent drug use, which is the most powerful way to get ahead of this growing problem. The earlier we can reach these kids the more powerful the effect can be. Let’s keep this momentum going!”

“Thank you Senator Greg Ball and Peers Influence Peers! I truly believe that one of the most important ways to combat this epidemic of heroin & opiate addiction plaguing our communities, is through Peer to Peer,” said Carol Christiansen, Co-Founder of Drugs Crisis In Our Backyard. “Young people can show other young people that it can be ‘Cool’ not to use drugs.”

GOVERNOR CUOMO SIGNS SENATOR BALL’S BILL TO NAME HUDSON VALLEY BRIDGE IN HONOR OF DISABLED VETERANS

Albany, N.Y. – 07/03/2014 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson), Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, has announced that today Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a piece of legislation that will designate a bridge in the Hudson Valley to honor local disabled veterans.

The legislation (S5974A/A8224A) will designate the bridge span on Bryant Pond road, crossing the Taconic state parkway, in Putnam County as the “Disabled American Veterans Memorial Bridge.”

“The men and women returning home from service to our country with injuries incurred in the line of duty are so worthy of this dedication,” said Senator Greg Ball. “Thanks to the Governor's support, the Taconic State Parkway bridge at Bryant Pond Road will serve as a constant reminder that freedom is not free, it is paid for by the blood, sweat and tears of our service men and women.”

The Disabled American Veterans of Northern Westchester/Putnam Chapter Number 137 sent a letter to Senator Ball requesting New York State recognize the sacrifices the military has made in the course of their service for our nation. The letter noted that there are over 10,500 disabled veterans in New York State.

“As a disabled veteran myself, I fully understand the impact that the naming of this bridge would have. It is with great appreciation of the Senate and in particular Senator Greg Ball, that I laud this project,” said Eugene Parotta, Chairman of Senator Ball’s Veterans Advisory Council. “A constant reminder of our disabled veterans is always a good thing. Thanks to the determination of the Disabled American Veterans, this has finally come to fruition.”

The legislation was sponsored in the Assembly by Assemblywoman Sandy Galef.
