Bazzo Says: Dangers Of One Party Rule

Bazzo Says:
BY ANTHONY J. BAZZO

OF YORKTOWN NEWS & MAHOPAC NEWS
TITLE: Dangers Of One Party Rule

Anyone who really thinks that the common refrain from the Democrats and their stenographers in the media of "people want politicians to set aside their differences and work together" has an element of truth to it, well, they are nuts. One only has to look at the New York State Senate and the Westchester Board of Legislators. In both cases, you have "break away" Democrats forming a partnership with the Republican minority in what can be called a "shared power" structure. These Democrats have more or less put aside their differences to do the people's business. Considering this is a "blue" state (in more ways than one), it has, for the most part, worked out.

What has been the Democrat establishment’s reaction to this?
Threats of primaries, castigation of those who broke away, howls of "turn coats." In fact, the top Democrat in the state—Gov. Andrew Cuomo—in selling his soul to the Working Families Party for their nomination, has pledged to fight for Democrat control of the Senate. The objective is to defeat Republicans, not work with them. Putting people before party is abhorrent to the governor and his minions.

Democrat rule is resulting in the present investigations, indictments and convictions of Democrats in both Albany and New York City. In Albany's case, most of the transgressions occurred when the Democrats had full control of all three branches of government, prior to Cuomo. In Washington, you saw in the first two years of the Obama Administration—when both houses of the legislative branch were held by Democrats—the shenanigans used to pass Obamacare and the Dodd-Frank banking regulations. Instead of reaching across the aisle, the Democrats constructed an impenetrable wall, separating the two parties.

The joke is that even though the president had both houses of the Congress, he could not get "comprehensive amnesty" or "cap and trade." Yet somehow this is the Republicans’ fault. Yet, somehow, this crisis on the border is the Republicans’ because "comprehensive amnesty" has not been passed. The effects of one party rule from 2009-2011 are being felt now. The anemic economy, the crisis at our border, continuing to be hostage to fossil fuels from countries that wish to do us ill and the high prices we are paying for energy are from the policies, laws and regulations enacted during that time.
In New York, the attitude of entitlement from the ruling class was so pervasive that we now have 13 vacant seats in the State Legislature looking to be filled in November. Those seats are open due to legislators being convicted.

From Washington, to Albany, to White Plains, to the very local Yorktown Town Board, Democrat establishment types want total control. Their idea of compromise is for you to give up your position and agree with them...totally! If you should stray from the reservation, regardless of party, they will go after you like ugly on an ape. You will be taken to the woodshed. The people's business is secondary to their control of the levers of power.
So, my message to Republicans, Conservatives and Independents who are thinking of skipping this November's elections because you do not think it matters, or are those inclined to vote Democrat, think again. This year, more than most, the State of New York actually matters. In Congress and Albany, the levers of power rest in your vote. Use it wisely. By the way, you should thank your lucky stars that there are sane Democrats in Albany and White Plains to show that people of character elected to office can put their partisanship aside and put people before party. Politics in the right hands does not have to be a nasty business.
This is what I say. What say you?
