Bazzo Says:Citadels of higher indoctrination

Bazzo Says:
BY ANTHONY J. BAZZO
OF YORKTOWN NEWS & MAHOPAC NEWS
TITLE: Citadels of higher indoctrination

I read with interest last week’s letter from a graduate student at Tulane, which took me to task for my recent column about climate change. The writer was apparently upset that some readers may read my column and believe it. Unlike in the make believe world of academia, we believe in diversity of thought and open discussion about everything and anything. In that spirit, I am responding to his letter.
My crime: not worshiping at the altar of the religion of manmade global warming.
Critic says
"I am now a graduate student at Tulane University in New Orleans, working to complete my Master’s of Science in Public Health. My concentration is in Global Environmental Health Sciences, which, despite its lengthy name, is basically just the study of how pollution affects human health. Naturally, global climate change is a huge focus within my studies as it will inevitably affect (and has already affected) multiple endpoints of public health in some fashion: whether it be malnutrition from lack of access to food and potable water, increased incidence of illness from wider geographical ranges of disease vectors, and/or the loss of life from natural disasters such as heat waves, hurricanes, and flooding events."

Bazzo says
As I said, citadels of higher indoctrination. All these events—natural or not—have gone on since the beginning of time but now they are suddenly our fault.

In regards to the line about "malnutrition from lack of access to food and potable water." Since that passage of the "Clean Water Act," the United States has more clean water than before its passage. Like most liberal ideas, the intent of this law was noble. It required common sense remedies, such as ceasing to use our rivers, streams and lakes as septic systems. We now pretty much feed the world. Other countries are more primitive in hygiene and the disposal of human waste, which has zero to do with the climate.

Let us examine the line: “[global climate change will cause] increased incidence of illness from wider geographical ranges of disease vectors and/or the loss of life from natural disasters such as heat waves, hurricanes, and flooding events."

Where is this happening? In terms of major storms, such as hurricanes, this has been anything but an increase. The 2013 Hurricane Season saw just two hurricanes. That tied with 1982 for the fewest hurricanes seen in a season since 1944.

Furthermore, according to the National Hurricane Center, 70 major hurricanes struck the United States in the 100 years between 1911 and 2010. That is an average of 7 major hurricane strikes per decade.
During the most recent decade, 2001-2010, 7 major hurricanes struck the United States. That is exactly the 100-year average.

Not one of the dire warnings—going back to when I was in high school—has ever come to fruition. The ozone layer is not gone, nor are the rainforests, the whales are still here and the birds did not all get caught up in the plastic from our six packs. In 2006, Al Gore predicted that the earth will “cook” by the year 2016. Wanna take bets on how accurate that will turn out to be?

Do not forget about the forged documents from the scientists in England (Climategate), these cannot be dismissed.

We cannot stop storms because we do not create storms. The idea that we are causing the climate to change as it never has before is predicated on the false premise that we have been living in the norm, climate-wise. That say, what the climate was in say, 1978, is how the climate should always be. That is nonsense. The climate has always been changing. Duh! When it comes to climate, there are averages—average temp, rainfall, etc.—but there really is no “normal.”

The deaths that are occurring, tragically, can be mostly attributed to the false science that bans the use of DDT as a pesticide. Millions of people in third world countries die of malaria because DDT has been outlawed. Is anyone held accountable? No, and the government-funded scientists who lied about DDT are the same ones who are now promoting the false science of global warming.

Take a look at the drought in California, which is being blamed for our rising food costs. This too is caused by so called well-intentioned regulations that divert fresh water from farmland to the ocean. Again, nobody—environmentalists, politicians—is held to account for this man-made suffering.

As it has since the beginning of time, the climate is changing, because that is what climate does! The two biggest causes are water vapor and Solar actions. Carbon dioxide, which we exhale, and methane (cow farts) are not the reasons. Did cow farts and humans cause the many ice ages and warming periods on this planet? Obviously not. Plus, our CO2 emissions are down to 1992 levels, yet were are told things are worse.

Global-warmists, stop peeing on my leg and tell me it is raining (because of my SUV, no less!).

Critic says
"As a person studying climate change and devoted to taking meaningful steps to address this gorilla of an issue, I couldn’t let his misinformation regarding well-established facts slide. Though a lot of readers may already recognize Mr. Bazzo’s anti-environment (and arguably, anti-logic) bias, I am concerned there may be a sizeable portion of our community who may not be aware of this.

Put simply, the current warming of our planet’s climate is unequivocal. This basic fact is honestly undeniable and scientists have understood this for decades. Unfortunately, as studies and reports continue to be released, we now know previous climate estimates were actually quite optimistic and that the window to avoid global crisis is rapidly closing. While the rest of the developed world has moved forward implementing sustainable solutions to wean us off our fossil fuel dependence, here in America we are largely still caught up discussing whether or not the phenomenon even exists."

Bazzo says
There are no well-established facts. There are theories and consensus among some. This is not science. Again, the climate change propagandists are going on the premise that the climate we have been living in since we were born is the “norm” and all change from that “norm” is our fault. As I said earlier, there really is no normal when it comes to climate—just averages. No one denies that climate is changing. The line that I and others do not believe the climate is changing is a red herring to make people believe we are uninformed.

As for the line: "While the rest of the developed world has moved forward implementing sustainable solutions to wean us off our fossil fuel dependence, here in America we are largely still caught up discussing whether or not the phenomenon even exists."

Unless Australia is no longer part of the developed world, the writer forgets to mention that they are now walking back from this folly because it is bankrupting their people and country. Then you have China, Russia and India, I guess not part of the developed world, which refuse to halt their progress in the name of the false religion known as manmade global warming or manmade climate change.

Critic says
"As of May 2013, atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide have since risen above 400 ppm for the first time in recorded history. Scientists know this is the highest level our planet has seen in over 800,000 years, while others believe it may be actually the highest in over 20 million years!

Once you let that sink in, some of you may protest that Mr. Bazzo said “There is no scientific method as taught to us in high school to prove we are causing a change in climate. All studies, no matter what side of the aisle you are on, are based on computer models.” While computer models are essential tools to help us predict future climate effects, records of the past have been amazingly preserved in such things as glacial ice cores, tree rings, and even coral. Scientists are then able to examine these extracted samples and can tell exactly what our atmosphere’s composition (and consequent temperature) was at a certain point in time. "

Bazzo says
And my favorite color is blue…800,000 years, 20 million years, all theory. Extracted samples again can only be theorized as to what they mean, there is no exact proof. There cannot be. But with their computer models, these figures can be presented as fact, which they are not. They are just their best educated guess.

There only science here is political science, as evidenced with the phrase, "implementing sustainable solutions to wean us off our fossil fuel dependence." You see, in the religion of man-made global warming, fossil fuels are the devil. The parishoners do not differentiate between petroleum, which when processed does add pollutants to the atmosphere, and natural gas which does not. Then you add nuclear energy which is the cleanest form. Yet these people are against all of the above! As I previously stated, our emissions are down to 1992 levels. Yet, the warnings are more dire. Then by their own admission, if after our reductions, things have gotten worse, then CO2 cannot be to blame. That is logic.

All these forms of energy, which are the life blood of the world’s economy, enable people to better their lives without control of a central government. The goal here is simply a more centralized government. To control how we get from point "A" to point "B." From shower heads, to incandescent light bulbs, to CAFE standards, to toilet bowl capacity and of course to the separation of you and your money. You know these are advocates of false gods when they do not live their lives as they demand we do. Laws and regulations for thee, but not for me.

It is a shame that colleges and universities are no longer the halls of higher learning they once were. At least I will be dead when these hens come home to roost. Until then, I will remain a heretic, and fight against this attempt to bring us back to the dark ages, both literally and figuratively.
This is what I say. What say you?
