Bazzo Says: Thoughts On America's Birthday

Bazzo Says:
BY ANTHONY J. BAZZO
OF YORKTOWN NEWS & MAHOPAC NEWS
TITLE: Thoughts On America's Birthday

This is Fourth of July weekend, the anniversary of the birth of this nation. It was birthed by those who promised to give “their lives, property, their sacred honor” to make it happen. It was birthed by people who believed in ideas that we now take for granted, but were unique for their time.
Ideas such as:

Innocent until proven guilty
It is up to the government to prove you are a miscreant, unless you are being audited by the IRS.

The sins of the father cannot be visited upon the son

If your parents die in debt to the government, that same government cannot take your property to satisfy that debt.

Freedom of religion

There is a supreme being, but you can worship that being anyway you wish. There is no national religion. Even though this has been bastardized to mean there should be no religion in government, even though all of our founding documents acknowledge a debt to a supreme being.
All levels of government are granted their power by the consent of the governed

Our rights do not come from government, but the right to govern comes from us. The federal government is the creation of the states, not the other way around, and is granted specific rights by the states. The rights not specifically given to the federal government belong to the states and the people.

The government works for the people

Being that the government is the creation of the people, the people have the right to criticize the government without fear of imprisonment, or these days, an audit from Obama’s IRS.

In today’s “America,” those who believe in these ideas are often called extreme by the political left—the base of the Democrat Party. This base believes in equality of outcome, not equality of opportunity. This base believes that to achieve this outcome, those who toil successfully must be forced to give their bounty to those not only less fortunate (to which no caring person objects), but to those who have been made to believe they are entitled to the fruits of another’s labor because others have been successful and they have not.

Certain portions of this nation’s population have been told since birth that capitalism is unfair and that America is a downright nasty place.

The Democrat base believes that those on the other end of the political spectrum do not necessarily deserve their rights, as guaranteed in our Constitution. They act as if it is alright for like-minded people to disregard the limits imposed by the Constitution. When fellow Democrats sit by unaware or unconcerned about what is happening, they are no better than the extremists in their party.

God Bless America? No, no, no! God damn America!
So, it is fitting to read from the Pew Research Center that if you are proud to be an American you are probably not a liberal. Pew divided their sample into different categories across the left-right political spectrum. When asked if respondents “often feel proud to be American,” a majority of strong liberals, 60 percent, said no. On the other hand, 81 percent of those who consider themselves “business conservatives” said they feel proud to be American and 72 percent of “steadfast conservatives” are proud to be American.

Overall, the poll showed that a whopping 44 percent of respondents are not proud to be Americans.
This is what Hope and Change does. After all, it was Michelle Obama who said this back on Feb. 18, 2008:  “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.” Stunning.

Anyway, the poll results show that “fundamentally transforming” the greatest nation on Earth into something radically different (which this president promised to do from the get go) from its founding is such an anti-American concept. As this president continues to assume near dictatorial powers, the Democrat Party is staying silent, three-quarters of the national media included.
The poll also shows many liberals don’t liken themselves to your average American. Just 51 percent say they feel as though they are “typical Americans”—as compared to three-quarters of conservatives and at least two-thirds of all the other groups. Who would have thought Hillary is a conservative, ya know, with that tiny bank account and all…

So according to the poll, 75 percent of conservatives and two-thirds of all other groups think that resemble the typical American. As for the liberals, well, 51 percent say that are not like the “typical American.” They don’t approve of typical Americans, and they’re not proud. They are elitists, which is why they make laws only for the rest of us to abide by. They know better than we, the unwashed masses.
Still, after getting everything they have been dreaming of—a more centralized federal government—they are still not proud Americans. Even after they get everything they want. We elected Obama twice and he is doing just what he said he would do, yet they are still miserable.  As long as there are still people who believe they can make it without government and have independent thoughts, words and deeds, they will feel unfulfilled and unpatriotic.

None of this is really news to me. Back in 2011, a Harvard study that found July 4th parades energize only Republicans, turn kids into Republicans, and help to boost the GOP turnout of adults on Election Day. It also reported that the flag also had the same effect on people. The flag made people patriotic. It turned people into Republicans. Heck, going back to when I was in school in the 60s and 70s, highly “educated” liberals thought the Soviet Union was utopia, and despised the United States.

What is really interesting is that the place that these people admit they’re not proud of is where everybody else in the world wants to come. I am convinced that liberals are not capable of contentment, much less happiness.  The glass is always half-empty, the world is going to end and it our fault. The truth is their lives are empty. They are always looking for validation.

Liberals, as we enter this anniversary of the greatest place on Earth, what reason will you give yourself for waking up July 4?
This is what I say. What say you?
