Bazzo Says: Justified Anger

Bazzo Says:
BY ANTHONY J. BAZZO
OF YORKTOWN NEWS
TITLE:  Justified Anger

The following happened on Wednesday, March 26:

• Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon is facing public corruption charges after prosecutors said he solicited $48,000 in cash, airline tickets, a hotel room and the use of a luxury apartment as bribes from undercover FBI agents posing as developers.

• California State Senator Leland Yee is in federal court right now, facing a seven-count felony indictment of gun trafficking and political corruption.

• The FBI raids the home, office, and Albany hotel room of New York State Assemblyman William Scarborough from Queens. Investigators carried away boxes of William
Scarborough’s files. The assemblyman is accused of abusing his expense vouchers.

• Federal and state law enforcement execute two search warrants targeting the home and office of Rhode Island House Speaker Gordon Fox.

What is missing from all reports is that each person was a Democrat. These stories were all but ignored on the nightly news. What the news media covered Wednesday night and all day Thursday was New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and “Bridgegate.” Oh, by the way, Christie is a Republican, that fact is mentioned each broadcast, as is the possibility that he will seek the presidency in 2016.

I really do not know why the media is so obsessed with Christie, they have already told us Hillary Clinton is the next president. We are told Hillary will have her day, but only if Obama by fiat, nullifies the two term amendment (actually 10 consecutive years) and runs for a third term himself. Who would stop him—the media?

Take the item about California State Senator Leland Yee. He’s one of the biggest anti-Second Amendment people you’ll find in the California Democrat Party. In fact, he gets an A rating from the Brady Campaign, a leading anti-gun group.

According to the story in the L.A. Times: “Federal prosecutors unsealed an indictment against state Sen. Leland Yee in court Wednesday, accusing him of conspiring to commit wire fraud and traffic firearms.”  It continues: “Twenty six people, including former school board president Keith Jackson, were indicted on charges related to an extensive crime ring headed by well-known Chinatown figure Raymond Chow.” The indictment alleges: “Yee and Jackson defrauded ‘citizens of honest services’ and were involved in a scheme to traffic firearms in exchange for thousands in campaign donations to the senator.” The indictment also alleges that Yee “introduced a businessman to state legislators who had significant influence over pending medical marijuana legislation. In exchange, the businessman—who was actually an undercover FBI agent—agreed to donate thousands to Yee’s campaign fund.

Remember the assorted shootings over the last couple of years? No matter where the event occurred, coverage was wall to wall. Politicians (especially our governor) could not wait to gut the Second Amendment. Cuomo’s Safe Act does nothing to prevent another Newtown.
Yet, we have Yee, one of the leading Democrat grandstanders against the Second Amendment, plotting to supply illegal weapons. The reaction from the American media? Silence. We are not talking hand guns here, we are talking military grade weapons and by the way, bootleg cigarettes! We are talking about associating with known crime figures. We are talking Democrat hypocrisy (I repeat myself). We are talking next to no media coverage. However, there is always Bridgegate!

So, when I read about “angry radio,” a dismissive term for talk radio, I get...angry. It is as if this anger occurs in a vacuum—it doesn’t. This anger is very real, very justified and it is an accurate portrayal of the pulse of a significant portion of the populace.

While it may be easy to wax nostalgic about liberals and Democrats past, this anger focuses on liberal and Democrats present. It focuses on an obvious media double standard designed to affect national and statewide elections. Don’t believe me? You have not heard one word about our governor saying there is no room in New York for people with heart-felt beliefs who do not agree with his. Cuomo has made it clear that the only acceptable Republican is one that agrees with him. Yet, Gov. Cuomo is going to spend millions of dollars painting County Executive Rob Astorino as intolerant, and the media will parrot everything Cuomo says as gospel.

You did not think I was done listing the latest in Democrat corruption, did you?

• Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin is awaiting sentencing after being found guilty in February of 20 counts of accepting bribes and other corruption charges.

• Former Trenton Mayor Tony Mack was convicted in February of taking money in exchange for getting approval in 2012 to develop a downtown parking garage that only existed in a federal sting.

• Former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner resigned last August after a number of sexual harassment allegations. He pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and misdemeanor battery in October.

• Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is serving 28 years in prison after being convicted in October of extortion, bribery, conspiracy and other crimes.

• Former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford took $235,000 in cash, loans and gifts. He was convicted of 60 counts in October 2009 and is serving 15 years in prison.

• Former Illinois State Representative Keith Farnham is being investigated for child pornography.

• Last and certainly least, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is in hot water for a $17,000 campaign dole-out to his granddaughter. Family values, Democrat-style.

This is the same Harry Reid who took to the Senate floor recently to accuse there Koch brothers of being un-American, a line parroted by Sen. Chuck Schumer after the Koch brothers donated $100 million to a New York City Hospital, the biggest single private donation to a hospital ever. Not to mention, the millions the Koch’s have given to the Lincoln Center over the years. The reason Reid and Schumer called them un-American? Because the Koch’s do not share the same beliefs that Reid and Schumer do. About those donations to the hospital and the arts? The leading Democrats do not care because they need people to vilify, and rank and file Democrats love obsessing over the Koch brothers. Another liberal trait: ingratitude.

Needless to say, I hope, is that once again all of the above are Democrats. That fact, that they are Democrats, is more often than not found at the bottom of most stories concerning them.

Right here in New York we have such an ensconced culture of corruption—and in spite of federal indictments and convictions—this governor and the Legislature have agreed to a “trial run” of public financing of campaigns. This year it is limited to the race for comptroller.

Our “leaders” in Albany think that allowing tax dollars to pay for elections will make politicians honest. Look no further than New York City’s public financing, and you will see the absurdity of this—straw donors, matching funds when there is little opposition, using unspent money on “office” items, etc.

Our state politicians have made not being allowed to run again for public office the biggest penalty for being caught. However, and this is where you actually know where they stand, the guilty pols will still be able to collect their pensions. It is a sick joke and we are the patsies.

Trying to find a moral equivalent by using phrases like, “They all do it,”—even though in New York and across the nation, the corruption is nowhere near equal—is the Democrat way of trivializing these transgressions.

Nothing is being done to stop this big-government corruption. This is why talk radio is angry. This is why I am angry. Most importantly, you can see why the “Tea (Taxed Enough Already) Party” is angry. It is not the anger that should be intolerable. What should be intolerable is what is causing the anger.
This is what I say. What say you?
