BAZZO SAYS: TO BE A DEMOCRAT

Bazzo Says:
BY ANTHONY J. BAZZO
OF YORKTOWN NEWS
TITLE: To be a Democrat

To be a Democrat, you must:

...suspend belief in all things real, like one plus on equals two.

...consequences from your actions are anyone but your's fault.

...consequences are always unintended, even though they were entirely predictable.

...you must pass a law to mitigate those consequences, then return to items two and three.

Case in point.  You have been told that since New York raised to confiscatory levels cigarette taxes,  that more people have quit smoking.  Truth is some people did quit, but most people quit buying in New York.    A report by the Mackinac Center out of Michigan shows that three of every five purchases are bought out of state.  That because of the $4.35 per pack ($5.85 in NYC). 1.7 billion dollars in sales revenue to local businesses are lost to states like New Jersey ($2.70) and Connecticut ($3.00).

Bootlegging is a mind boggling multi-billion dollar business, where at the beginning of this century it was minimal.   You see before these taxes became obscene, it was not worth the risk to bootleg cigarettes.  However because you are a Democrat you did not see this coming.   You did not take into account that money always find a way and people will skirt obscene taxes where possible.  Because you are Democrats, neighboring states from New Hampshire to the Carolina's thank you for the business you have sent their way.

Being a Democrat and being of the belief you know what's best for everyone else if they would just do what you say, you are totally flummoxed that smokers would continue to smoke.  How dare they!  So in your world, the increase in criminal activity (bootlegging) is the fault of the smoker and not your tax policy.

Let's not forget cigar smokers. Because there is no tax stamp required, bootlegging is a rampant multi- billion dollar business on its own.  In this case however, because of the lack of a tax stamp, local business can travel out of state, purchase cigars and sell them at the 75 cent excise plus $8.75 sales tax rate and keep the difference.  You see if they sold them at a discount, it would send up red flags.

Again in your world, it is the fault of the cigar smoker trying to save money and the retailer trying to make a buck.

Another case in point.  Because in your world you believe minimum wage jobs should feed a family of four, you are now insistent that the wage be raise to $8.50 per hour.  Mind you it has been proven that it hurts those who you wish to help.  Reports prove that there was a 29% lees hiring of the 16 to 29 year age group the last time it was raised, and we were not in a recession the time.

Mind you that not only does this unfunded mandate increase hourly wage costs, it increases payroll deduction costs.  Mind you it results in the increase in costs in goods and services that you will surely complain about and blame greedy business.  Mind you it is your policies that make living in New York so expensive to begin with.  Mind you these are entry level jobs not designed to feed a family but to teach on the employer's dime the work ethic.  Mind you that it will increase the under ground economy as more small business hire off the books to avoid higher payroll deduction costs and of course the increase in Obama Care tax payroll costs.

Being a Democrat makes you an economic fool.  As long as you feel good about something, you care not about the harm you do to others.  It has been said that I wake up unhappy that Obama is President.  Not really.  I am upset that you put him there, you put Cuomo as Governor of New York. After all, you can not get mad at a tiger for doing what tiger's do.  Yet, one can be totally baffled by those who would ride on the back of a tiger and not believe they will wind up as its dinner. You, not they, are the cause of New York inability to pay its way with out gimmicks.  You are the cause that New York's unemployment is a full percentage point higher that the rest of the nation.  All harm and economic woes now and in the coming months rest with you.  That's what I say, what say you?

Bazzo Says:Stop Making Your Problems Mine

Bazzo Says:

BY ANTHONY J. BAZZO
OF YORKTOWN NEWS
TITLE: Stop Making Your Problems Mine

Blasphemy!  Heresy! How dare they!  Don't they know it's for the children, another protected class!  What am I talking about, you ask? I am talking about last week’s front page story in the Yorktown News, "Yorktown Central Schools ready to charge athletic club fees for field use."  Man oh man, you would have thought that these clubs faced their own fiscal Armageddon, and that the rates proposed were draconian. They are not. In fact, they are quite reasonable considering the financial circumstances the school district faces.

The proposed fees are:

Gyms: $10 per hour on weekdays, $20 per hour on weekends.

Grass fields: $5 per hour (except high school baseball and softball fields). I am not sure why they should be exempt.

Murphy Field: Up to $25 per hour (YAC maintains the fields)

These fees are per club, not per head.

It is important to note that these various clubs already pay overtime custodial fees, and that the Town of Yorktown picked up part of that tab. This means Yorktown property tax payers with or without children in these clubs paid directly through school taxes and property tax towards mitigating the costs of use.

You should also note that the school district has been trying to implement this since 2000. It does not help the school district's argument in that they have not been entirely truthful in their quest to impose these fees. Yes, electricity, heat, school custodial costs and upkeep have risen dramatically. Custodial and upkeep costs are the fault of the school district. Increased prices for electricity and heat are the fault of anyone who voted Democrat.

The school district tried however, to cite a law which requires them to charge fees. No such law exists. The truth, which they dare not speak, is that they will charge these fees because they can and they want the money.

Fact is, the athletic clubs should be picking up part of the tab. Why should those who have no investment in these clubs be required to foot the whole bill?  Why should your children's extracurricular activities be the collective responsibility of everyone else? I am sick and tired of being held accountable another’s child. It is the same with mass transit. The users only pay 25 percent of the costs, with everyone else— whether they use or benefit from the service—picking up the other 75 percent.

I do not make my responsibilities yours, stop making yours mine. The user should be picking up most of these costs to begin with. These are, after all, luxuries not necessities.

As for the school district, well, perhaps it would have more sympathy for its plight if it was not such a bloated bureaucracy. The superintendent is paid on par with the governor, and more than local and state politicians, whose area of responsibility is far greater. Let's not forget all the administration salaries in our school districts. The far majority of our tax money goes to labor at all levels, and not the children.

On top of that, when the taxpayer has the temerity to inquire about where their money is being spent, or questions misuse or abuse of that money, the school district hides behind a wall of silence. The district might as well tell us, “We cannot, or will not, talk about it. It is none of your business so just pay your taxes and shut up!

So, to the school district I say, be more honest in your quest to pick someone's pocket. As for the athletic clubs, well, the costs went up so you need to pay up. You are not exempt form the cost of living going up.  It is your kids. It is your luxury. It is your responsibility.

This is what I say. What say you?

Bazzo:Liberals Are Liberals First

Bazzo Says:

BY ANTHONY J. BAZZO
OF YORKTOWN NEWS
TITLE: Liberals Are Liberals First

New York Sen. Charles Schumer said on "Meet the Press" on Jan. 20 that the US Senate will only fulfill its legal obligation to pass a budget if the budget includes new tax increases. Our senator, representing a state in the cross hairs of President Barack Obama's class warfare agenda, has said to the people he is supposed to represent, "up yours!"

It was only four weeks ago that we were told that the latest budget deal would put the tax issue behind us and that we would tackle government spending. The uninformed majority who voted for this present government bought into this. The people with a brain in their heads knew it was a load of garbage.

President Obama said he will not negotiate over the debt limit. He did not have to. The gutless Republican leadership caved and will pass a three month extension with a demand that the Senate pass a budget on time this year, hence Schumer's remarks.

Why should they? It’s in no interest to the ruling classes, Republican and Democrats alike.

It continues to create an ongoing budget crisis, and deadlines approach and we are told that if we do not do such and such, our economy will collapse, even though it collapsed a long time ago. This also keeps the markets and business community in flux.

So why do the uninformed think everything is okey-dokey? Are they having trouble getting their

unemployment checks? No. Are they having trouble getting their food stamps? No. Are they having trouble getting their Medicaid? No. So, in their mind, they ask "what's wrong with the economy?"

Even though the last budget deal was to make the "rich" pay their fair share, these leaches in the majority go along when both the President and Senator Schumer say the "rich" in any new budget deal must pay their fair share. Government spending? Ha! We must continue to keep people dependent on government so that they will continue to vote Democrat.

So who are the rich? You thought they were millionaires and billionaires. Then it was those making $250,000. The last budget deal said it was $450,000. However, when you got your latest paycheck, you found out it was you. The new deal increased payroll tax payments to 2009 levels. You see, that was where the real revenue was raised in the last budget deal.

It is always you the producers, and they are coming back for more. They just said so. You will notice that it is income they always go after, not wealth. If it was wealth, then they would be raising taxes on themselves and their biggest contributors. That is why I said ruling class.  Both parties need the super-rich, big corporations and bundlers, those who go out and get medium donors to contribute in lump sums.

Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, the Hollywood super rich still pay less in tax rates then their help. Their wealth was left practically untouched by the latest budget deal and, in fact, Hollywood got a tax break. It is you the drones that got it in the neck. The capital gains tax went from 15 percent to 20 percent, as these super rich receive most of their income from investments. They help pay an average 28 percent as their income is derived solely from wages.

Back to Sen. Schumer. Why would he advocate tax policies that are at odds with the state he represents? Easy. It is because liberals are liberals first. It also explains why he could accept former Senator Chuck Hagel as defense secretary, even though his anti-Israel stance is well documented.

So as those who are not brain dead continue to see Sen. Schumer as an embarrassment, the uninformed and government dependents will believe that he is their champion.

This is what I say. What say you?

Comedian James Foxworthy had a routine called "you know you are a redneck if....".  Part of this week I am going to do a parody called "you know you are uninformed if....".

YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE UNINFORMED IF:

....One reason (exit polls showed over 50% did) you voted for Obama was that you believed the state of the economy was Bush's fault.

...You believe that only 2% of the taxpayers got a tax increase.  (because the payroll tax exemption was not part of the deal, 82% of workers saw a tax increase...by design)

....You actually believe that by punishing the successful will improve your life.

...You believe that raising the minimum wage will spur job growth and help low income workers.

....You believe Rep. Nancy Pelosi when she said for every dollar spent on unemployment benefits translates into two dollars of economic growth.  (unemployment benefits must first be taken out of the economy)

...You believed "Obama Care" would lower heath care costs.  (Insurance premiums have gone up over $2,500.00 not down as promised and the costs of prescription medicine has more than doubled)

...You believed receiving health care was the problem.  (the problem was because of government over regulation, litigation and unfunded mandates costs spiraled and "Obama Care" addresses none of those...see above)

...You believe that anything out of Albany or what Obama has proposed would have stopped what happened in Connecticut.

...You believe that hydraulic fracturing spurs the growth of STD's.

....That after five years of study by the Federal Government and New York DEC we still need to study if

hydraulic fracturing safe.

...That Governor Cuomo will allow hydraulic fracturing.  ( he would rather have high poll numbers than low unemployment.  The more who need government hand outs, the more who will vote Democrat)

....You believe that if the debt ceiling is not raised we will default on debt payments, social security and medicare payments and the fighting forces will not be paid.  (latest figures show that the federal government receives on average every month 161.7 billion dollars in tax receipts.  Debt service is 25 billion dollars a month.  S. S., Medicare and armed forces is 100 billion dollars.  If any of those were not paid, it would be Executive Branch decisions, not congress.)

....You believe that the federal workforce including the President, Cabinet members, Congress and it's staff would not be paid first.

...You believe that State Senator Greg Ball and Assemblyman Steve Katz were grandstanding in defending the Second Amendment, but Rep. Jerry Nadler (who said only the government should have weapons),  Governor Cuomo and his shrill "it does not take ten bullets to kill a deer" and President Obama surrounding himself with children were not.

....Believing that supporting the premise that the constitution limits the powers of the federal government is reactionary.  (according to Senator Schumer in describing the "Tea Party")

...That comparing the NRA to Nazis's and Osama Bin Ladden is proper political discourse.

....That the "Bill Of Rights" can be circumvented by executive order or congressional legislation.

....That the "Bill Of Rights" is now the "Bill Of Needs". (who needs ten bullets....).

....That the "Bill Of Rights" should now be "means tested".

If you find what I have written offensive, you may take it am offended that this is the government you voted for.  That you the uniformed are in the majority and 3 million Republican voters who went to the polls in 2008 stayed home in 2012 to put you there.  This is what I say, what say you?
